
Uttam Kumar Gupta is an intellectual property law researcher with a keen interest in doctrinal and empirical legal studies, and in the regulation of new-age technologies. At the Council for Social Development (CSD), Hyderabad, he is associated with the ICSSR-supported longitudinal study on Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged rice varieties in India, where he contributes to systematic evidence synthesis, legal and policy analysis, field-based enquiry, and manuscript preparation.
He holds an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSoIPL), IIT Kharagpur, an LL.B. from the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, and a B.Sc. in Information Technology. His research engages with the intersection of law and emerging technology, including artificial intelligence, blockchain and quantum computing, and he has received Best Presenter awards for papers on AI, IP and law.
